What I do at SYSPRO
My current role is Technical Consulting Manager. I currently manage a team of seven, Three consulting developers, Two Technical and infrastructure Consulting Lead Consultants, One Business Intelligence Consultant, and One Project Manager. We provide a range of specialist services to our customer base in our EMEA space along with supporting our Professional Services Team.
Who am I?
I started my SYSPRO journey as a SYSPRO customer and have been part of the SYSPRO team from 2009 to 2016 working extensively with a variety of SYSPRO customers implementing & supporting the SYSPRO product. During this period, I was also a team leader from 2013 to 2016 where I managed a small team of four as well as customer projects along the way.
I also spent a year and a half in our Manchester office in the UK from 2016 to 2017 where I experienced a similar customer base along with a slightly different management approach in supporting this customer base & how the team there manages & supports this from within their team. I returned to South Africa in 2017. I support, and project manage a wide customer base with interaction on all levels, including allocating resources within our team to deliver on deliverables. I would like to think that the above-mentioned stands me in good stead.
I have practical hands-on technical experience to support my management skills. I have good people and communication skills; I can read people well on all levels. I am also good with conflict resolution. I am open, analytical, and ethical, I like things done properly. I work well in a team in both the working world as well as my personal life. I try to promote a good a positive energy in all that I do. I attribute this to my years of martial arts & yoga disciplines. I am always open to learning new techniques and processes and not afraid to implement them should they benefit me in the end. I accept responsibility where I have taken ownership and I am not afraid to delegate tasks to others.
I have completed projects in Southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana, Namibia) using SYSPRO’s IDEAL (Initiate, Design, Engineer, Actualize, Leverage) unique ERP Implementation methodology, ensuring successful project completion. IDEAL is a scalable, structured, and phased approach, designed to help customers empower employees and take advantage of industry best practices, assisting them to expand their business, launch new initiatives, and improve existing operations.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter, predominantly outdoor activities like open-water swimming and mountain biking. I have been practicing martial arts since 1994 and hold a 2nd Dan Black Belt in the Korean martial art of Taekwondo. I enjoy weekly Yoga sessions which I find bring a nice balance between the stresses of work and physical activities.
